Emil Berkovitz

Cantor Berkovits was born into a family where the tradition of becoming a cantor was passed on from one generation to another. He is now the fifth generation to be a Cantor, following his father and brother.

At an early age he was known as a child soloist, appearing at many concerts with some of the most famous cantors of our time, appearing in concerts throughout the United States, Canada, and Israel.

He writes his own music when needed and will conduct our services with beautiful sound from his tenor voice.

He is a member of the Cantors Assembly of America and has been designated as an honorary Fellow of the Cantors Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary and has received his Doctor     of Music degree honoris causa from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
